Training & Nutrition - The Girl Scouts are out to kill us...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

My wife brought home some Girl Scout cookies the other day. Have you ever read the ingredients? The first one is sugar and the second one is partially hydrogenated oil (trans fats). Of course if you read the label it says it has 0 trans fats. Not to mention they are now $4 a box. Am I the only one concerned that this is how they choose to raise funds? I'm all for supporting the Girl Scouts but isn't there a better way?

I'm still not up to WaterRockets stack of 14 Oreos but I did pile up 8 Girl Scout Tagalongs last night and then munched an apple chaser. Washed all that down with a protein shake and topped it off with a salad and 36 oz of soda water.

Man tonight was my birthday so a huge slab of meatloaf and a thunderous chunk of chocolate cake. I'm eating a tremendous amount of food these days. Isn't cycling just awesome if really you enjoy food?

Girl Scouts are cutting trans fat from their cookies next year. There goes the flavor!

It's worth every heart attack I get later in life. Frickin delicious.

Actualy the real flavor is in saturated animal fats. Butter, lard of beef tallow which were the traditional fats to bake cookies with. Now MAN does a real butter cookie taste good.

Trans-fats were used to replace animal fats because they were supposed to be bad for us but the irony of all this is that its the trans-fats that are the real villans. So get over the unfounded fear of butter and enjoy a real butter shortbread.

It's the samoas/caramel delites for me. There were 3 sitting out in the office kitchen the other day. There were 2 other people in the kitchen so I only took one, otherwise I would have taken all 3. They didn't even take any of them though!

This Sunday I left Lowe's w/ arms full of plumbing stuff, was confronted by tablefull of girlscout cookies, that was too much to process so I just fled, didn't buy any.

I like every single kind of GS cookie, even the ones with coconut -- and I don't even like coconut!

I bought a box of Tagalongs for only $3. The girl I bought them from didn't have a GS uniform. Plus she was about 40 years old. Do you think they were hot cookies? could I go to jail for this?

...stack of 14 Oreos...

Not GS cookies...but I love to take a whole bunch of oreos...place like 7 in a bowl on the bottom and then break another 7 on top. Poor milk...eat with a spoon. Hmmm.... :p

Wow. 1400 calories (not including the milk), 70g of fat (42 saturated), HFCS, Partially Hydrogenated Oil... I'm dizzy just thinking about it.
