Im a noob and I sort of understand what to do...well, I want to order something off the internet, but only creditcard or paypal can be used. I dont really want to ask my parents or anything and I have the money. So I understand that I need a bank account or checking account to have a paypal account right? Could I just go to a bank and open up a new savings account and just deposit maybe $250..then go to paypal add that account and just transfer the money? Or is there something else I am missing?

Or you could link your paypal account to a debit card if you have one, but the debit card has to have the visa/mastercard hologram.

That's all there is to it, but you'll have to wait a couple days to validate your bank account with paypal, and without a credit or debit card, you could only pay through paypal by e-check, which takes a few days to clear, so it'll take a while.

If you aren't saving, find a bank that has free checking (no minimum balance, low initial deposit, Commerce Bank is one that has this), and open a checking account rather than a savings account. They're more useful. Heck, with interest rates at 0.5%, low balance savings accounts are pretty much pointless.

Im only 16. I found out you have to be 18 to open a paypal account. My friend was 15 who had one, how did he do that? Will paypal know I am 16 If I make a new account? Is making a new account easy and quick? What's the process?

It's easy and quick if you have your bank account # handy and/or your credit/debit card handy. Just enter a fake birthday.

Oh ok. I dont have a cc/dc so I guess a bank account will do.

Now is it easy to make a new account somewhere? After the transaction I will only have like 20 dollars left in it...then what?? Do I have to be 18 to open one up, or what do I have to sign? Ug.

You might be wise to link the paypal account to a savings account, and transfer the money to that, so if your account gets broken into, you won't be sucked dry.

Are you talking about a new bank account?

Just go to any bank, and open one, then transfer money into it. You may need a checking account for paypal, though. You don't have to be 18 to open a bank account. You can always open a new account at the bank you currently have your money at now.

I don't understand the part about "after the transaction I will only have like 20 dollars left." You can always close the account after you've bought the item, or just keep the account. Make sure they don't have any minimum balance bs though.

What are you buying that you don't want your parents involved? Drugs? Porn? Guns? Booze?
