Training & Nutrition - CTS Updates

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Greetings,
I don't recall if it was in this forum or a different one but there were several folks who signed up for the free month of the Carmichael Training System.
How's the training going? Have you gotten anything out of it?
What say you Koffee, Fubar5???
Curious minds want to know.
Zack
Oh dang.... I registered and never looked back.
I'm afraid I never tried it, and they never sent emails to me or anything. I totally forgot I'd registered for it!
:( My bad!
I have been with them for about 10 weeks now and I have been quite pleased with my progress. Their philosophy of "more gain with less pain" seems right on. The training program assigned to me is pretty easy to follow and fits the alloted time I am able to commit to a scripted training routine. There is a good mix of different types of rides and intervals, as well as the much needed recovery rides and rest weeks every now and then. Seems the training is primarily focused around duration of riding and keeping your HR within the range specified for that particular ride.
As far as contact with my coach...I typically just correspond with my coach via email (email seems to be my life). He's pretty responsive and I can ping him about anything...as often as I'd like via email. He'll call every other week to talk about how everything is going - training, recovery, etc. However, I don't think they cover diet as much in my program (Perform) as I think they should. Even a sample diet wouldn't hurt....or even a "hey, what have you been eating this past week". I have pretty much had to do the diet thing on my own.
Another cool thing is that I live in the same town, so we meet up every now and then for a ride - road and mountain bike. He typically pounds me into the ground, but one day I'll get him ;-)
