Put a cheap tape player up there with a Celine Dion tape. Works wonder.

Get an owl decoy, place it up high.

A fake owl with a moving head might work.

But then you wouldn't be able to get the headshot.

Owls only work for a few days. Pigeons get used to it. Nixalite (http://www.nixalite.com/default.aspx) needle strips work for ledges etc. You can't cover a whole roof with them.

some gasoline and a match, perhaps? .. -seems to be a good enough remedy for most of lifes problems. :)

Air rifle, air rifle, air rifle. I suggest a nice Gamo to get you started. I'm into nice airguns and have shot
LOTS of pigeons around my company's warehouse.
I do that too.

see.. for using a bb gun i can get arrested here for that.. but my lil bro's a cop here i can tell hm to use the 9mm but .. its not worth having the people here file a complaint on blown up birds... i can feed them pepo bismo... so they can explode, or rat poison.. would not want to do that at all..

Paint your roof with faux bird doo. They never perch on their own doo.

In all honesty, I'd go for a pellet gun and cleaner pellets. 3 pumps with a cleaner pellet won't cause permanent damage, but they won't be back.

I've found this works quite well. Just the noise alone scares the living **** out of them. (And it keeps the cops at bay whenever my annoying neighbors call them). :)

A friend and I killed about 30 flying rats with blowguns we made. We made the darts and guns in one day. He was good enough to hit them while flying, but I had to wait until they settled.
All you need is about 2 to 3 feet of copper tubing about 5/8". Coat hangers cut to length with taped paper to make the "fletching" in the form of a cone make mighty fine darts. Sharpened of course. The darts would go in so deep only the cone stopped it from going all the way through. Practice and practice and you will prevail.
Silent, deadly, and cheap.
By the way we got them in the Hindenberg hanger in Lakehurst NJ. at the very top of an elevator shaft. TMI?
