A commuter who speaks the truth. Basically he is saying never ever assume & always be alert to your surroundings. Common sense right? Then why do more cyclists not follow it?

probably the same reason motorists don't -- can't be bothered to do what's right & in their best interest, simply because it's a drag.

Because as humans it is hard to be 100% alert at all times. Who doesn't day dream even for a few seconds?

True but there is a time & a place for everything. On a bicycle or behind the wheel of a car is not the time nor the place to day dream.

Well you asked why, so I gave you the answer.

Are you claiming to be 100% focussed on traffic at all times?

Yes. At least I try to be & I never day dream while driving or riding bike

So when you are using a stop watch to time how much you delay motorists, putting some brain power towards remembering when to hit the button and when to hit it again or when you are sounding your Airzound, you miraculously are still 100% focussed on traffic?

Trying to be is one thing, and that's great that you try but I sincerely doubt that you never let your attention shift or day dream while driving or riding. Personally, my mind is way too cluttered to do just about anything with 100% focus.

And let's not forget how N_C used to have a camera mounted on his bike to take dozens of pics of traffic on every ride. I suppose he can take pictures and be 100% focused on riding at the same time.
