Mountain Biking - New bike already?

Call me crazy but I really want a new bike already. I bought a C'Dale F800 in May and I'm already looking to get a FS. On the trails I'm seeing lots of people with FS bikes and how much fun they are having with them. I reaaaly want one.
So this is my plan. I want to get a Santa Cruz Heckler with 5th Element shock and maybe Maverick Fork. Then I'd take my C'dale appart and put all of it's componients on the SC. This way I'd only have to buy a front wheel, BB, head set, and stem. Then overtime, I'd slowly rebuild my C'dale to make it a sub 23 lb XC bike. Does this sound like a good plan or am I just suffering from Rear shock envy? But a SC Heckler for under $2500 CAN sounds pretty tempting!

I think you are suffering from dually envy. But you plan is a valid one as long as you don't forget about the ht :)

Cannodale uses a 27.2 mm seatpost. What is the Hecklers'?

Also, C'Dale has a 68x110 (usually) or a 68x112 bottom bracket. What is the threading and spindle length of the Heckler? It's either a 68 or a 72. The SC website should state what is required.

Likewise with the front derailleur. However, if going with a FR frame you may want to run a single chain ring up front with a chain quide. I like the Evil Guides.

These are 3 items you may have to purchase if not compatible. Fortunately, they are all relatively inexpensive items (or I should say, CAN BE inexpensive).

Why the new front wheel? Does the Maverick fork require a 20 mm thru axle mounting?

Why the Maverick fork? My verdict is still out on this fork, but IMO, the Heckler frame would be better suited with a 5" travel single crown like a Z.1, a Psylo and their ilk. If you go this route, you can get one with a standard drop-out and use both your wheels. I will add, I started using a 20 mm thru axle and LOVE IT, I'll never go back to a standard. But, I'm a 230 lb rider!

Sorry I meant March. And I'd need a new front wheel because of the lefty shock. It uses a system intigration hub. So instead of rebuilding the front wheel, I figure it would be easier to get a new one. Also I would probably still like a triple chain ring. I'd try and keep the bike under 30 lbs. I want it to be a go every where do anything bike.

Sounds like a good plan to me, wouldn't the axle length for the BB be determined by the crankset used and not the frame?
