"The 33"-Road Bike Racing - race legal wheels

so ive decided to sell my mavic SLs and get some carbon rims for races specifically (prob not crits, just RRs and TTs) and i was just wondering if there were any specific rules for mass start events to this. all i know is that solid disks and tri spokes are not allowed. anything else? im currently looking into some american classic 58mm's.

They're legal.

you must atleast have zipps, unless you are cat3 and above, then you must have lightweights.

What kind of bike will you be riding? There is a max weight limit of 16 lbs.

And even that is wrong. If you're racing under UCI rules, there are more restrictions than the ones you cite for road races (both are legal for TT's). If you're racing under USCF or FIAC rules, disks and trispokes are fully legal for all events.

lol with my mind blowing 20MP of 270 i wont look like a weenie at all. im def the most pro beginner there ever was.

no worries, i drilled holes into various parts of the frame i deemed unnecessary.

I remember seeing Gaggioli at Downer's Grove in the 90s with a rear disc in.

2-hour crit on a disc....ouch.

ed guys still do that, 2 seasons ago I had rather personal experience with a curb and gent with a zipp 909 rear disk. Afterwards I believe my chamois had torn out of my shorts and his disk wasn't a disk anymore.

That said everyone's supposed to go UCI rules next year (right?), but I doubt that will enforced in the lower cats.

I was at a Crit the other week and a guy had Carbon Tri spoked Spingerys and I kept thinking "If we crash, I do not want my hand to go into his wheel.. ouch!"

Acually the Spinergy "blades" would break easier than spokes. I was in a large race 10 years ago when a guy next to me overlapped wheels with the guy in front of him. The blades on the front right got broken off by the rear derailuer on the other bike. Neither rider knew what had happened except for the carbon flying through the air. Amazing that neither fell and the wheel kept rolling true with just one side of carbon blades holding it up.
