I have done a very small amount of welding, and would also like to know a little about how to braze or silver solder a frame. Any links to guidance or classes?

I'd suggest you join the Framebuilders list
(framebuilders@phred.org).
Some good info there input by some of the biggies
in lugged frames llike Richard Sachs, Joe Starck, Kirk Pacenti,
Fred Parr.
From what I see they also get more than a few newbies

you can subscribe at:

Go to your local, tech school. A lot of them offer courses in welding. They will teach brazing, stick weld, mig, tig, and all the background info you need as well. Plus a place to do it, the right safety equipment(burning your eyes is something you don't want to do twice.) and stock to stick together.
