I live in the North Bay Area of California. I have been a runner and hiker for years and would like to try road cycling. I'm coming onto the forum to get advice about what bike to buy etc. I am a 54 year old woman who knows very little about cycling. No one I know rides bikes, so I am atotally in the dark about just about everything to do with the sport. I have lots of questions.

Hey Peyton! Welcome aboard!! I know you said you're from Northern Cal but please do stop by the SoCal forum-- there are tons of ladies that post regulary in that forum. The guys are pretty helpful there too. There is a women's specific forum too just, send a Personal Message (PM) to one of the moderators(the ones with the blue star next to their name) and ask for access.

I'm relatively new to cycling but have learned a lot from the folks who post here and have even ridden with a few :)
