Ireland destroyed the italians today in the Six Nations, France are doing poorly against the Scots, and hopefully the english wont do so well against the welsh.

I admit I had to look this up on Google. Who knew France or Italy even played rugby?

Apparently so, it's just that I never thought of Rugby as a continental sport.

.."they steal your heart away..."

Georgiaboy has an Irish ring to it. :D (BTW, both my parents are of irish descent.) Kind of like Dannyboy. Anyway, it's interesting to note that the Irish use the word boy does not necessarily mean young age. It can mean "soldier." ;)

The idea
of youthfulness, inherent in the name, was further
emphasized in Irish by permanently affixing the
epithet 'oac', Mid. Ir. 'óc = young', so that *Maccan
ceased to be employed alone. In *Maccan Óc the first
word was popularly misinterpreted as the common word
'macc = son, boy', followed by an unstressed vowel
and eclipsing 'n-', as if the name were 'Macc a nÓc',
which by Middle Irish scribes was written 'Macc ind
(= inn) Óc' through confusing the middle syllable
with one of the forms of the article. Sometimes,
especially in later texts, the meaningless 'ind'
was dropped, and the name was re-formed as 'Macc Óc'
otherwise 'in Macc Óc', 'the young boy'.

oac, the Old Irish for "youths", later came to mean "soldier", as in Gallóglaigh (gallowglass) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gall%C3%B3glaigh)

Les have a little more green here. Pardon my ignorance. The only Six Nations I know of are the six Iroqois Indian Tribes in west central New York State. And their little amateur Lacross Team came very close to beating the North American, Commonwealth, and World Champions in a tourney once. The others were playing for their teams, their schools, and their countries. The Six Nations team was playing for their Gods.
