View Full Version : WTH is wrong with me?

So far, for this summer I've turned down a trip to england, a bike tour of Europe, a vacation in Belgium during the beginning of the Tour, and a cruise in the Baltic sea with stops in Copenhagen, St. Petersberg, Stockholm, and a handful of other cities. Keep in mind that for each of these things, I wouldn't have to pay for anything.

I've turned them down so I'd be able to race this summer. WTF is wrong with me :crash: :D

Good luck, I hope you have a great season.

Yeah, I better! Knowing I'm missing all that awesome stuff definitely makes me want to make the most of my season.

Maybe you ARE a closet urban thug after all Erik.

You are pyschotic. Welcome to the club.

By the way I won't go on a family vacation without my bicycle. The bike goes or I stay.

Shouldn't that be 'G'? I'm confused.

Europe's not going anywhere but I'm assuming the free trips are gone after you turn them down. if racing means more than drinking and checking out Europe at this point in your life, then have a good season. If you could take your bike and get a few internat'l races in, that'd be cool

Oh yeah, g-homie, trippin' and whatever else I'm suppose to say. I did pour a little cytomax out for my homies though.

You know, you CAN race your bike in Europe too...and come back to the states a better racer.

Especially in the Benelux - you might want to lay off the "medical" herb.

Jus' sayin' is all.

But I'd have to miss fitchburg, the owasco stage race, and the NYS RR championships! C'mon! I mean, CMON!

The hospital?
What is it?

A big white building with lots of sick people,
but that's not important now.

You got a letter from headquarters this morning.

What is it?

It's a big building where generals meet, but that's not important.

^^^^^ What he said.

Dude, you are missing out. Unless you are confident that all these opportunites will present themselves again, travel a little. When you get a little older <cough> like me, you may regret missing the opportunities.

But if you must stay to race then you better WIN!

Go travel, do some loving, get caught up is a triangle of forein pasion, come back and take what belongs to you. Then race.

What is a 'triangle of foreign passion' exactly?

I went to Europe the last couple of summers and got caught up in a triangle of misplaced luggage. Fortunately the bicycle was never misdirected. THAT would have upset me.

On second thought Penguin, unless you can do all carry on baggage, stay in New Paltz. Besides, what could Europe possibly have that the lovely Hudson Valley can't offer?

I thought a "triangle of forein pasion" was some type of French pastry. ;)

Maybe we could all meet for a group counseling session - and then blow that off and go for a nice 50 mile bike ride.

But what if cycling is one of those kick ass, life changing experiences?

Not that I don't think our friend Aptenodytes forstericide shouldn't go to Europe. Because, what's cooler - podiuming in a CAT-3 race in New York, or slogging though the Belgian countryside in a 40-50kph 100 man, multi-national peloton?

And lets face it, you can't get a decent lambic here in the states :)

how soon can you land?

I can't tell.

You can tell me. I'm a doctor.

No. I mean I'm just not sure.

Well, can't you take a guess?

Well, not for another two hours.

Unfortunately, I can't get upgrade points in belgium. Skipping the heart of my season wouldn't be a smart thing to do :(

Why do you think there's something wrong? Tempted by the soft but consisten tug of your culture? you're obviously doing what you like. That's better than many people can say.

Are you sure about that?

An ex-pro I ride with went over to Europe as a 3, and came back as a 1...albeit it was the 80s, but you might want to look into it.
