Two that come to mind immediately are the ET (Eastern Trail) in Maine and the UNH routes in Durham, NH. There's also an Atlantic corridor ride that goes from somewhere down east (Bar Harbor?) all the way south to FL - the first leg is Bar Harbor to Windsor, CT. Think about doing the Trek Across Maine this summer, too -- Sunday River to the seacoast...

What's a "long" ride for you? What part of Mass are you starting from?

No mater where you are from, ride the bike paths on Martha's Vineyard Island on a nice day in the summer. There are Martha's Vineyard bike path maps on line. Some go right along the ocean. Start at the ferry dock at Oak Bluffs and ride down the coast. (The one on the right side on the map.) Then just follow the ones you like. I can show you lots of photos.

Eastern Trail (http://www.easterntrail.org/)

East Coast Greenway (http://www.greenway.org/)

The Eastern Trail is mostly over-the-road right now, but the vision is to envisioned to eventually be a mostly off-road Greenway from South Portland's Bug Light Park on Casco Bay to Kittery's Piscataqua River.

there were trails/mup in cape cod, towards the ferry that goes to Boston. traffic was heavy (summer, 2004 nj-me tour) but the trail (check out engleberry ((SP)) east coast tour) were a nice side step!
have fun!! (will retrieve more detail if wanted)

This is a little nicer than any in RI and the Cape. It's not very long though. It's only 14.5 miles one way.

In the Berkshires the path from Lanesboro to Adams is nice, only 11 miles now but planning expansion in the future - Pittsfield to Williamstown.

The Bar Harbor, ME to Florida is also part of Adventure Cycling's Atlantic Coastal route which you can find more info at
