To me it feels cold and not at lively as it has been.

Is it just me? =/

I'm new to foo. But how was it before?

As a new comer to foo, I must say that it seems to be the most arid, boring, bromidic, characterless, cloying, colorless, commonplace, drab, drudging, dull, humdrum, insipid, interminable, irksome, lifeless, monotonous, platitudinous, plebeian, prosaic, repetitious, routine, spiritless, stale, stereotyped, stifling, stodgy, stuffy, stupid, tame, tedious, threadbare, tiresome, tiring, trite, unexciting, unvaried, vapid, wearisome, well-worn, -place on the internet.. which is really part of it's charm, imo. :)

I wonder if you could achieve the same thing by inserting the word "boring" into a Thesaurus?

OK, who left the window open?

Actually, I can take some of the credit for this. It's my specialty.

ding, ding, ding! .. :D  .. except, then you would need to insert 'boring' back into the word list, and also include some other fitting but non sequitur adjectives like ''stifling'' -(that was my contribution). :)

Yeah it has changed. But of course it's because of the regulars who have decided to take advantage of the weather and go ride bikes. Something like that.

I've noticed a decided lack of Chip around here. He got out his broadsword and has been hacking away in Advocacy and Safety ever since John Forester decided to join the party.

Yep - I got in 80 miles after I finished shoveling out the driveway. Might have made 100 if the snowblower had started.

Yep - beautiful riding weather today. :p :D

Unfortunately, it wasn't because I was busy riding bikes...:(

WTF?! Foo is just Foo, dammit! It's a warm, safe place to be no matter what your mindset or personal issues. Foo is family, gawdammit.

Day-um. EJ123. Missing me so much? <curious Vega look> I'm only as far away as a single post or a PM. <serious Vega look>

The rest of you: Foo does change as far as who participates, but Foo is always, and safely, Foo. Agree or disagree? <curious and better-say-so Vega look>

Yeah, foo is foo man. The only forum of its kind about 'nothing', and 'everything' **except; politics, religion and graphically pornographic stuff -(which is kind of a shame). :P :)

I've seen a few politics / religion threads in Foo, and many of them have been notable for their civility, and the presence of actual discussion!

It's just going through its annual cycle. Things speed up, things slow down.....

Give it a bit and someone will start up an outrageous series of threads or ressurect an older thread again ant the ball will get rolling

I hope not. Things would get boring fast if Foo stayed static, it needs to remain the dynamic organisim that it is.

The John Forester thread (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=277631) was/is the hottest thread going. Some serious dialouqe going on in there. I have enjoyed reading it.

Yeah, but I was pleased to see our BF faithful dueled with him in an utmost manner. One post remarked that Forester had achieved something good, that is to unite the A & S crowd due to his "angel in white" appearance, which everyone seems to dislike. :)

With riding season opening back up for many of us....Foo's dynamic does change and that's not a bad thing. From October through February each year....Foo is more active since everyone is trying to stay sane over the winter months. Come spring and summer...and it's more of a place that I pop into to catch up and see who's doing what, posting what etc...

So yes, the dynamic of Foo is cyclical and that's probably a good thing overall.

it has changed to me too for a while now, but I also have been here less and less:o :oOkay we're all gonna blame FOO's malaise on BDG. Actually my theory is it's weather dependent since a bunch of us are on the East Coast. Was clipping along alright last week as it seemed spring might be here. But with the latest blast of frigid nastyness It's been a ghost town this week because everone is depressed. I'm planning a movie about this phenomenon which will be called "an Inconvienent Foo". Trying to find a place for an Academy statue on the mantle.

Let me put it to you this way, my dear. My riding style could be called "hyper-legal", and of course I use techniques as described in that man's book. His posts makes me want to get out on I-5 at night with no lights, riding the wrong way whilst hugging the curb. Not that I'm going to do it, I just feel like being incredibly naughty anytime I manage to finish reading one of his posts without nodding off. He really brings out the mischevious Catholic school girl in me. :p :D

Since it's you Foosters, let me also confess another thing: I have never been able to read his book from cover to cover. I always fall asleep. :o Who needs Ambien? Not I. :p

There is absolutely no reason why you can't visit P&R from time to time to get that out of your system. I do it with A&S, and I know some other people on Foo who do the same with the more contentious forums they haunt.

We come here to be friendly, and we leave (for the most part) our unpleasantness at the door. :)

Yes, I thank God for P&R for that reason alone.. But you know, if a man dish it out.. -then he should be able to eat from his own bitter food as well. I am that waiter returning the dish to his table, and he should have the right to send it back, and I should be able to serve him something else in return. People disagree, even in foo.. sometimes ppl get upset and lash out and take themselves a lttle too serious, -- and so long as others don't respond in kind, then there can be no 'downward' spiral, that you mods wish to discourage at all costs. I do not believe that mine or Stacey's responce to the poster who said I was 'racist' was meant to be maliciously insulting to him? -- we were only trying to chide him so that he might lighten up a little.. I think there should be room for this. If the anger persists and remains one sided, then hey ..in a way that's his issues?

Its not just foo but all of bikeforums. I have spent the whole weekend riding my bike :) Yesterday and today both in the 70's here :) Its been great. I also don't post much on the weekends cause its time with my dogs and boyfriend as well.

I agree with Tom that its just the way it is when seasons change. :)

Foo does slow down a bit in the spring. As does other areas of the forums. It's everyone getting out for each and every mile they can ride as the weather starts warming up after the long winter for some of us. As the season settles in, foo picks back up a tad, other parts of the forum pick up with lots of seasonal ride reports and such. And for the most part, the cabin fever that some of us suffer from goes away and things are over all more pleasant. :)

I have to admit I have spent a lot of time in A&S lately...how could CHIPCOM MAN not show up for a debate with his arch-nemesis, the father of vc, the Darth Vader of phobic cyclists - John Forester? Also work is requiring more of my time, spring is in the air which means more riding and of course the dreaded SPRING CLEANING!
