I received my new Planet Bike Protegé 5.0, yesterday. This was to replace the Cateye Mity 3 that I lost a couple weeks ago.
I went for the 5.0, because I don't really need AVG and MAX speed. I could have spent another $10, though, and had those features that my Mity 3 had. For a little more, you can get the new 9.0, that also has the temperature. Wowie!!!
Maybe, when I get really bored, I'll think about that.
Anyway, so far, I like this cyclocomputer. I like the big display. If I ever endo again, we'll see how tough this mother is. My Mity 3 lived through a rough one on asphalt about 5 weeks ago. The last time I had done that, though, was in 1970, so I may never know about the Protegé.
The two biggest cool features are the display and the lack of confusing buttons. The only two things you can do on the road or trail to this thing are 1. reset the timer and the trip odometer, and 2. switch display line 4 between odometer and time. You switch the display by pushing forward on the body of the computer. No fumbling for buttons. You reset by pushing and holding for 2 seconds.
A third nice thing about the Planet Bike products is that they donate 25% of all profits to bicycle advocacy groups.
Honestly, I used to just keep my computer on the time feature. I would mainly keep track of my speed and the trip time. I would also switch to the trip odometer on occasion. Now, they are all there at the same time. Plus, I can have the trip time and the clock time up at the same time. Sweet!
