Road Cycling - STeel is Real

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I ride a Trek 2200 now, with full campy chorus on it. I find it a ball-buster. It just is so stiff, I feel every bump in the road. I just ordered a Burley Wolf Creek frame, which is a True Temper OX steel frame. With all this talk about how good steel is ride, I cannot wait till the frame arrives and I can build it up, and get out and ride.

Let us know how it turns out. Will be interested in hearing about the Burley non-tandem ride, as well as your thoughts on steel once you have tried. Is nothing so comfortable, IMHO. And can't beat Campy gear, either.

Welcome to the land of the hills man. I'm in Thornhill.

My Burley has arrived, but I am still working on it. The frame looks great, and is very light. I hope to be riding it this weekend in the local charity ride for the heart and stroke foundation. I will let you know what I think.

What year of 2200 is it? Is it the one with the aero shaped down tube? Those are notoriously harsh riding bikes. The newer Trek aluminum frames are really nice riding for aluminum, my wife has one.
I'm guessing you will love the steel frame though. I havn't ever owned an aluminum framed road bike, but I've ridden plenty. Some good some not. I love my steel lemond though, and just about every other steel frame I have ridden.
