Cebu Philippines- Biking?

I'm about to accept an international assignment over there.
I'm an avid roadie and want to bring my bike. Any body with good info?
I got a trek madone.
Any places to ride - BTW- I get a personal driver who will stay with me (free SAG? )

where in cebu are you going? cebu city itself is a bit congested but there are rides near the outskirts of the city. where in cebu are you going to be assigned? mandaue? cebu city?

btw, there's a book that you can get for around pesos 800 (about us$ 17.00) that has bike trails/roads that you can take. its specific to the visayan islands of which cebu is part of.

oh. visit the beaches too.

Thanks for the response. Cebu City, work near the Ayala Mall. I have visited cebu twice, and will have a driver so I plan to have him follow me when I ride anywere. I won't commute, just looking for a place to ride fairly safe Traffic wise. I can bring a bike with me. I have a cyclocross and a road bike and wondering which one to bring. I don't like Mountain biking. I will do a house hunting trip next month.

ok. so that means you're familiar with the city already. i've been there around 6 times and its pretty hard to get a bike look within the city although i did see riders around that rotonda near midtown plaza. you can also ask in the philippine cycling network (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PhilippineCyclingNetwork/). its a group in yahoo and has lots of members all over the country. but i would recommend getting that book i mentioned. its bike specific so it could probably help. i'll post the complete title when i get to visit the lbs.

i might go to cebu next month but for a short while only and then go up to bantayan island for some r&r with the family.

i just noticed your name and avatar... we saw a plane like that here about two years ago and it was doing loops like crazy! awsome sight.
