Got out again today. I again rode my Kona touring bike, waiting for a hard rain to wash the crud from the roads to break out the road bike. Wind was blowing today, unlike yesterday, from SSE at about 15 mph and the twmp was 41. Great spring riding weather! When I first started riding a few years bck, heading out of town always felt like it was uphill into the wind, no matter the day or direction we took. Well I chose that today to be able to make the most of the wind on flat ground. Didn't see any other cyclists out today, I think a lot are still in the inside spinning mode yet. Here is the route I took: http://www.routeslip.com/routes/25829

I can certainly understand your desire to keep the road bike off the roads for a bit yet. I just started to commute to work a few times a week, and the roads are not very condusive to a clean ride. I'm glad that I converted my older MTB into a commuter, rather than taking out my pride and joy through the sandy, sloppy roads here in the Milwaukee 'burbs. With that said, it feels wonderful to be pedaling and actually going somewhere, rather than sitting in a basement on the trainer. I was really hoping our massive thunderstorms from last night would wash the roads clean - but no such luck. It appears that more of the road grime just made its way into the bike lanes!
