+1 That's my fave too. I used to boxers, but they bunch up too often. Boxer-Briefs is the way to go.

Accidentally bought some boxer-briefs. They ride like a sunnofa*****. But they were more comfortable while on the bike when I didn't feel like pulling the cycling clothes out. Plus, I don't have to worry about flashing people when I'm at the gym.
Other than that, boxers.
Commando is okay every now and then. That is, when I can manage to be okay with my pants rubbing against my crack.
"... with my pants rubbing against my crack."
ABout which, the less said the better.

One of the very first things I did when I moved out of my parents house at age 17 was throw out all my underwear. I have gone commando ever since (I'm 46 now). But I do have a few pairs of boxer-briefs for those infrequent times when I have to put on a suit. Something about the twiddley-bits flopping around inside pleated trousers just doesn't feel commensurate with the Power Suit mentality.

I don't care what it is, as long as it's microfibre - that stuff is awesome :)

On a related note I discovered wearing microfiber boxer briefs under cycling shorts is the shiznit. I was trying to layer in cold weather this past winter and discovered that if I wear these under my shorts I get zero saddle sores and can wear even the cycling shorts whose chamois cut my backside without issues. The microfiber material is very thin and moisture wicking so it works perfectly.
Just thought I'd throw out a practical benefit. ;)

Does it also work as well as newspaper to, you know, avoid frostbite on the ol' extremity? <curious Vega look>

I wear boxer-briefs most of the time. With the occasional commando thrown in during the summer months.

(and on this I would have to agree with you - microfibre is the shiznit for all kinds of reasons :))

Kewl, Hey Vega! :)
Hehe - yes, it does help with the "warming factor" as well. ;) Not sure how comfortable/uncomfortable it'll be in the summer though.

strange question. But, as I remember Bill Clinton answered it.
On a couple forgetful ocassions, I have had to wear cycling shorts under my wind pants at work, following a bike commute in. Normally boxer briefs.

Hehe - the underwear nazi can kiss my underwear clad butt. :) If it works it works. I have a pair of very expensive Pearls I never could wear for more than 30 miles because they would carve a perfect outline of the Pearl chamois in my backside. If I wear the microfiber boxers I can do a century in them no worries. ;)

wolfpack, search on "commando" in "Foo." ;)
I'm tempted to wear men's boxer-briefs if that would protect my "frontside" like it seems to protect every Foo guy's "backside." Problem is: it isn't usually my "backside" that is giving me a problem after 20 miles....

Hehe - its just a chaffing question, regardless of the body parts involved. :) It would be worth a try I guess. Just make sure they're the microtech fiber stuff, thin as possible, and a pretty tight/snug fit. Boxer briefs - not boxers.
