as promissed... :)
i removed my studded tires... and i've put on some michelin "city 700x32c". so, yes, winter is now officially over for me :) i use my winter bike as a "rain bike" in the summer. my official summer bike has 700x25 continental 2000 slicks and does not have fenders... and is still hanging on the wall. i'll wait for them to clean the roads.
of course i get caught a couple times a year in [heavy] rain (obviously more often on the commute back home...) but with some radar/weather observation i usually pick the right bike!
congrats to all
My rain bike is what ever bike I'm riding at the time it starts to rain :D But if I were to head out while it's raining, I do like you and use my commuter.
Just put on my Tioga city slickers yesterday, so I'm part of the "club" now.
Normally I'd wait for the gravel (mixed with sharp objects) to be cleaned off, but this year I just put in a tire liner and see how that goes.
It's incredible how much easier riding on slicks is.
Hey Beny are your Tioga City Slickers a black wall tire? I remember back when they first came out they were skin wall only. I have always like the tread pattern of those.

Not sure what you mean by black wall/skin wall. The tires themselves are black.

Thanks!
I'm refering to the color of the tire walls. Skin wall tires are generally beige in side wall color.
I ask because I like the look of the tread pattern (althought I know it doesn't matter that much) of the Tioga Slickers, however the place on line I want to order from calls them skin wall... I prefer they were all black. If they are I may just order a set, or look for them at some bike shops here.
Well it certainly is spring in Toronto, if not early summer like. 19C (66F) here yesterday :)
I was able to look at the Tiogas at MEC today, they are indeed all black. I think I may pick up a pair as I like the tread and the 1.5 size. They are even available in a wider 2.0 I believe....
I made it to Dukes and Urbane today. Cool shops.... Now I just need to get to those ones further out like Racer Sportif .
and i'll also add racer sportif (2214 Bloor Street West) to the list. also high-end and farther away from downtown... i've never been to the shop, only bought stuff from there at the annual bike show.
you're welcome! torontonians aren't unfriendly... we just look that way :p
It was a nice shop with lots or drool worthy bikes and equipment :)
We had a great time in Toronto, we saw a Miami Heat vs Raptors basket Ball Game, Maple Leafs vs Pittsburgh Penguins Hockey Game (both games were sold out), the Phantom of the Opera at the Princess of Wales Theater took a drive out to Niagara Falls, cruised China Town... It was all excellent!
Our wind is coming from the North East, maybe it's skirting by us? ;)
It's snowing very lightly right now..... I think the ground is warm enough that it'll all melt.

It might miss you ... the Calgary/Medicine Hat area just got slammed ... much worse than central Alberta, but we're getting it pretty bad too. I'm guessing maybe 6" of snow already, combined with howling winds. The roads are sheets of ice.

That is the most memorable quote ever
So it's snow just a little bit here today, but I don't think it will amount to anything. I washed my bike yesterday and the free wheel started skipping on the way to work. At one point just block before my building downtown, the FW wasn't even engaging. I'll need to take it apart tonight and re lube it, but I hope I can make it home first :D
Once it's engaged, it stays engaged, but as soon as you free wheel, it sticks until you can get it to engage again  at one point I was making like th eold Fred Flinstone Hobby Horse

So my ride home was interesting. My free wheels pawls would engage intermittently, and if free wheeling, would not engage for quites some time. So my only strategy was to ride as if the bike was a fixed all the way home. I would keep pedaling and apply brakes when approaching stop lights, and time it so I didn't have to stop pedaling. It seemed to have worked!
I'll set about cleaning and rebuilding the FW tonight.

It was a great time! Thanks for all those recommendations, they really helped and were worth while
So I rebuilt my back free wheel, hub, and while I was at it, I rebuilt the front hub as well.
There was definitely water in the free hub body that was causing the problems of the pawl engagement. Now it's super slick again :)

It was +20C yesterday, we went for a 100km road ride that was incredible. I ended up packing my jacket in my back pocket, and then later packed my leggings and was in full summer garb :)

The last time I wore summer gear was back on 1-6-07 61F freak temps for January. oh well I'll just have deal with the snow. The one good thing is when the weather breaks and hits the 50f mark it will feel like summer.
2manybikes just rain here too. I just hope the temp stays high enough for just rain tonight and tomorrow. Then off with the studs.
 On another forum I have the Sopwith a little bigger as my avitar. I really like it.
Way coolest dog! I'd like to meet him someday as well, he reminds me of my H57 Corgi :)
Snow on the way into work and just wet pavement on the way home. Spring must be here 50+F this weekend finally.
Last grasps of winter I would say ;)
Looks like wet slushy snow, that stuff can be tricky to ride in.
Thanks for the pictures
Temp on the ride into work was -1C, however it felt way warmer with the bright sunshine. I packed shorts for the ride home. It's expected to be +18C.
It sure was a beautiful ride into to work today, no balaclava, just a tech tee under my soft shell jacket, light MTB gloves, a pair of treking pants and my SPD Taho shoes. I felt fast and alive for my commute!

Heinz 57. My dog was not a pure bred Corgi, however he was primarily Corgi. He looked mostly corgi, but he was all one color of light brown, with a white chest and underside.
