G'day.

Just got a new (old) fixie and Im damned if the Internet can help me find out what it is.

It has been resprayed racing red, has some Reynolds 653 stickers and if it makes a difference, comes with a no-name headset, cinelli drops, campy rims on old BIA track hubs, a superbe crankset and finally, the number 0042 stamped on the fork and under the BB.
It was bought in Melbourne, Australia and I got to thinking that I may be able to identify the builder through the lugwork and/or numbers stamped on the frame.

Attached are some photos and while I have searched these forums, Im sorry in advance if Ive overlooked a glaringly obvious post.

If anyone has any idea, especially about weird filled area around the bottom bracket, that would be awesome.

AB - Australia

653 tubing? Never heard of it. I have heard of 853, 753, and 631. Are you sure about that number?

No matter what it is, I'm still jealous. That thing is gorgeous.

Just what I was thinking.
All signs seem to point to a local Australian perpetrator, ie. a small custom builder.

Edit: Did you check the track ends? Any markings?
And I saw that fork lug w/heart cutout a million times on photos... I don't like lugs so I don't know what make it is but half the board definitely does. The BB thing looks pretty unique so it could help identify the maker.

I love those lugs. Very attractive esp. for mass produced frame. I'm hoping that the Uni I'm going to look at has them..

I would love it to be a DeRosa but my hopes are definately not up on that one.

Now, to find MrWhite.

Check it out. 653 stickers - no idea where they came from.

(Fans of Australian culture will notice the Hills Hoist in the background)

ya, 653 is indeed a tubing from Reynolds.

Better question: why do all these random, slightly strange track frames come from Australia?

Australia? Could be a Clamont frame. My Road frame has those exact same lugs (then again so do a lot of other bikes). Paul hillbrick would've built it in that case.

Are there some sort of branding near the seatstay/seattube/toptube junction? It would've been covered by the repaint.
