Well my first Team Time Trial is next Sunday. Im excited! Been training consistently and feel pretty good.

I had a team-mate offer to borrow me his zipps for the race...im kinda torn as I would love to get any advantage I can but am also a bit scared of being responsible for such bling. Although it would hurt, I could and would replace the wheels if I damaged them...so what say you?

If you can afford to replace them go for it.

Chances are they'll be fine. And they're chances I would take.

and? Its not like you're going to be riding with guys you don't know. I'm assuming you've trained with your team for this TTT, yeah? If you trust them, why not take the wheels?

It depends on the teammates. Do you trust them 100% not to goof and cause a crash? (EDIT: damn you penguin and your posting while I type!!!)

In general though, yeah, I'd ride them in a heartbeat.

Can you train with them at least once before the race?

I assume you are not a lightweight and have decent handling skills. Zipps can blow around a bit. Secondly, have you practiced TTT? If you have not, there can be crashes trying to maintain such close distances. Third and probably most important - Zipps have a crash replacement policy that they do the repair at about half cost (so $1200 rims would cost you $600 to replace). To me as long as you have any handling skills, go with the wheels, because even if you do mess them up (unlikely) it will probably not cost as much as you were originally worried about. Oh, and please use Carbon specific brake pads…your friend will thank you.
