If you had some Ascent II's you might be right on that guy's wheel. ;)

That's my teammate right in front of you. I was in that race (3/4) as well.

yeah, i noticed that early in the race. i asked him about it, about 5 miles into the race and he said it was fine. i tried to steer clear for the first descents/climbs to be safe.

Thanks for the link. Man, those earflaps I was wearing were even dorkier than I thought!

Looks like the Darkhorse guy came in last from the break in the cat 3/4 race. I told DH that with their man outnumbered 2 to 1 they should be chasing rather than blocking, but did they listen? Nooo.

yeah, that is so true!!!:D seriously though, it was an uphill sprint finish and i was a close second. considering the weight difference, about 2000g for my current wheelset and 1440g for the ascent's it may have been even closer. that is over a pound of rotational weight!

We'll take the 3rd place and 6th place finishes we got over towing the entire peloton up to the break and giving everybody a chance. Why would we reel in our own guy?

Just my humble opinion and all that, but you guys seemed to me to be the strongest and best organized team in the pack, and I think you could have done better. The MOB Squad attack should have been covered, but you guys know that and I understand that it can't always happen. But once it did get away from you, you either need to go holy hell with the attacks to bridge one of your guys up or you need to shut the break down. Otherwise, your team is racing for 3rd ...

Seriously, though, congrats to you guys for at least working the tactics rather than racing negatively like most of the pack. I might be knocking your decision in this case, but you guys were the ones I was most impressed by out there. Chris was a class act in the chase group with me and Rodney.

Ah, so that was you in the chase group with Chris. Good work.
Yes, it is true that we should have sent someone with the MOB Squad guys. Our guy up the road was also in a break the previous week and got 2nd. The guy that beat him was Rodney who was back in the pack with us. So we felt good about his chances. We didn't know anything about the MOB Squad guys until later. Chris knew about their skills, but was taking a breather at the back since he had just been caught after his lap or so off the front. He yelled at us to cover, but it was too late. Those two were not going to be caught easily. Now we know better.
Congrats to you for getting into the 2nd break.
