I'm still looking for a beater bike. I found a guy that has some 2001 model frames or 2001 complete bikes in my size. The complete bike is $450 + shipping which would put the price close to $500. The new ones only cost $599.

What's the most that I should pay for the frame/fork?

I dont have the over all weight on the 2001 but the 2002 weight is 24.25 lbs
and the 2003 is only 21.75 lbs (i would assume that the 2001 is at LEAST 24.25lbs)

baised on the weight factor and year it doesnt seem like that good of a deal to 'me.'

if you could get it for $400 shipped that would be a good deal and a good started bike.
