Hi folks--
Not a vintage classic, but I have a new Schwinn cruiser that I love and need to put a mousetrap-style rack on it for hauling a few things. Any recommendations for a rack (vintage or new) that will fit the look of this bike?

Pletscher mousetrap, if you can find one. I'll check to see if I have one to spare.

Would look nice with one.

I've got one of the Pletscher mousetraps as well. Let me know if you would like it. It would cost you postage.

If John doesn't have one, PM me. I have one that says "Schwinn Approved" from the late '70s early '80s.

Word!

At least we know there's at least two, perhaps three of the Pletscher mousetraps around.

Those Pletschers can do the same kind of damage to seatstays that kickstands do to chainstays. I wouldn't put one on that bike. I don't think a Pletscher wil fit correctly anyway. The curve in the stays makes the clamp angle wrong.

Innertube clamp pads.

Thanks to East Hill for the Pletcher! It was a perfect fit. Here are the pix and a link to the story I wrote about this bike for my cycling column.

I can tell you that it looks a lot better on the DQ bike than it did on my World Sport :D .

Great job, Dewbert, and I'm glad I was able to help you out.

For what its worth, Rivendell has brought in a lot of Plescher racks and is offering them for $20 while they last.......................

I can't stand it if they're not perfectly level, but that's just me. I use a digital level to set them up.

Just fyi, Pyramid makes a plescher rack knock-off that you can get for $9-$12 new. They look practically identical and can be found often whereever cheaper bike components are sold
