General Cycling Discussion - Chat Friday night (May 23rd) at 8:30PM C.S.T.

I'll be in the chat room from 8:30pm C.S.T. so hopefully, there will be people in there.

I'm here or there...or whatever.

I can't download Java..or whatever :( Something pops up that says I need to download it..it takes me to the Microsoft page to get updates then tells me i don't need any updates. I seem to remember reading something about Microsoft making XP so that it won't use Java???

That shouldn't happen. You should just get the click here to enter java chat, and when you get that, they ask for you to download something or another, and when you say yes, the chat room pops up.

Do you have a mac or something obscure?

Not on my planet apparently :( Don't think it's too obscure..eMachine w/windows XP Oh well....

Yes, in order to corner the market original versions of XP were not shipped with the Java Runtime Engine. You may have to dl it from Sun Microsystems. Microsoft doesn't see it as a requirement to existing so it is not an update package but a fully seperate software package.

When you dl it should install and you should be able to enter the chat. :)

I think the chat was great- but it is sure hard to keep on topic. Last night the topic seemed in the main to be training. Maybe in the future we could decide to have a chat and focus on one or two specific topics within cycling.

the topics ranged all over the board- I think you came in during the training part, but it moved on. Eventually, we got to talking about a band that someone liked, and that's when I jumped off.

I guess it helps to be in the chat room from the beginning so you can see all the topics. What would be nice is if we could have sub-chat rooms where people could congregate to talk about different topics without everyone's sentences colliding into everyone else's.

I like that there's a lot of topics that happen within the chat room. It helps us get to know one another on a more personal basis.

I'm not sure if I'll be around next Friday, because I'm going on vacation, but maybe we can schedule it regularly for 7:30pm CST every Friday night so we know there's at least one time that we know there will be other people around on the chat room to talk.
