Track Cycling: Velodrome Racing and Training Area - track bike help

Hi, I have a bianchi boardwalk right now but i am going to be buying a track bike pretty soon and would like some advice between a few bikes.
Right now i am interested in the IRO angus, the KHS flite 100 or the bianchi pista.
which would you say is a better bike? why?

do you want to ride on a track?

If not post in ss/fg and they will probably suggest the angus.
I would suggest something that you don't get a track bike but get some sort of ss/fg designed for road riding. But that is why they hate me.

i with you all the way... but you know the kid just wants some risers and an aerospoke.

I just recently started riding the track after many years of road riding/racing. Got a bikesdirect windsor for $300. More relaxed head tube angle than a Pista, but it has 165 cranks and a pretty short wheelbase. Handles fine on the track but my experience is of course limited.

I guess my point is that the Windsor is definitely usable on the track and also usable on the street and its cheap.

from the 3 bikes you mentioned the common factor between all of them is that those are road bikes with track dropouts. I have riden all of them and are comfortable after all, the winsor one it is ok. The other common factor is the price. All of them compete with each other in the market. So if you are going for pricing u r ok with any of those 3 bikes or with the windsor.

If your budget isnt a problem and you want a real track bike with no brake holes, steeper angles and the whole shabang you have to go classic with a steel track bike or a bianchi concept, or a duratec that are quite affordable after all.

Ummm you have no clue what you are talking about the concept has the same geometry as the regular pista. So unless brake holes really offend your sensibilities that much a least one of them is a real track bike.

I'd suggest a Brass Knuckle (going from memory - have I got the name right?) or get a classic old second hand steel frame - great for commuting, cheap and if you crash it you can get it repaired.

???? actually the concept it does quite well... well u cant compare that frame to any other old italian or english frame anyways... but I think you missunderstood a little bit... he asked for 3 bikes that arent track at all those are more like a SS bike.

Between the stuff I have possesed and used since i started racing when I was 12 y/o... legnano pista, Cinelli pista, Colnago master pista, I still have in my mom house's my Raleigh Professional track 1973 (i need to be specific with this one,) 2 Custom Del Valle's. Here in the US i got the chance to ride a couple of nagasawas and one 3 rensho that belongs to a friend. I have right now a tesch and a bianchi concept that I bought only to test the frame thats all... Modern track bikes are a little bit different and yes, the hole for the brakes it bothers me a little bit sometimes. Im not saying that u cant do racing with them, I saw Pavel Tankov several years ago win the road Junior WC riding a BED with Wheels... so my criteria is quite open.

The other thing is that after riden all those different racing machines do you you i would even think to pick some of the 3 bikes Bobby is asking for? those arent acceptable at all if you look at it. I know there is a big factor called MONEY just in the middle and to tell you the truth i have riden some of those frames also and they ride fine but not for serious track racing, as I said before those aren't my 1st choice at all.

Oh if you notice all the frames I have riden are totally differnet from each other, the only common factors are the BB hight, tight fork clearance and NO BRAKES HOLES AT ALLLLLLLLL hehehe :)

Good god you're worse then the hipsters in ss/fg with your moronic elitism and your brake holes and your tight clearances.

So the lack of brakeholes is really important to you? Why else would you consider the pista "more like a ss bike but not the pista? If the concept does fine the pista does fine too THE GEOMETRY IS EXACTLY THE SAME and the os tubing probably makes it stiffer then some those dinosaurs you seem to love.

Are they...?? I havent even notice... Since I dont care that much about any of them... I bought the concept because it looks cool... yes the darn brake hole it bothers me a little bit.. just checked the web site (i said that i never care that much about bianchi).. interesting :) thanks for the head's up... :)

The standard Bianchi Pista is full on track geometry, and makes a pretty reasonable track bike, albeit the components are cheap and the wheels a bit heavy. For the price it is a good entry level track bike.
