"The 33"-Road Bike Racing - visiting Belgium and the Tour of Flanders

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

hi,
i'll be visiting Belgium during the Tour of Flanders this year - does anyone have any advice or suggestions on where to see the race, what town(s) to stay in, any cool bike shops, etc?
i saw a news article about last year's race where they set up huge screens in a couple of cities - couldn't find any info about it for this year, though...
non-bike related suggestions also welcome! this will be my first time there.
thanks in advance!

Stay at the Hotel Tijl in Oudenaarde. You'll be right in the middle of the action and the hotel owners understand cyclists. Also, stop in the Flanders bike shop and say hi to the Assez family. Frans (dad) died last year, but the rest of the family are still involved with the local amateur team and of course their pro team. Great square to hang out on as well.

thanks for the tips! i'll be sure to check it out.
Skip the Duchesse de Bourgogone unless you like the taste of worsteschire sauce.
I really liked Brugge when I was there a few years back.
Morte Subite FTW
Moortgat too.
