General Cycling Discussion - New Front Tire.

Went with the same tire I had before. The Primo Racer Comet. From what I understand they are one of the best tires for recumbents.

The only differance between the new one and the old one is the new one is all black, versus black with tan sidewalls as the old one was. To me it is a "sexier" look for my bike.

I do have one question though. The tread on the Primo Racer Comet is a "V" pattern. When the guy at the LBS put the tire on he installed it with the point of the "V" pointing to the rear of the wheel is on the bike with the QR lever on the left hand side, (this is if you are sitting on the bike). I guess I could put the QR lever on the right side of the bike so the point of the "V" faces forward. I'm used to the QR lever being on the right cause thats where the rear one is. With the rear wheel there is no choice because of the gear cluster of course.

My questions are, does it make a differance in traction if the tread is facing or pointing a certain direction? And, is it a big deal if to have the tread point forward, I put the QR lever on the right versus the left side of the fork/bike?

I almost hate to point this out, but you can take the QR out and turn it around.
Having the QR lever on the left is tradition, functionally it does not matter.
From the standpoint of a bicycle road tire it probably does not matter which way it points. If you put the tire on so the logo reads to the right, that is style wise correct and probably the way the manufacturer intended it.
Now on a car or motorcycle, the "arrow" points to the front, but not always, some of my moto tires on the front point to the rear.

Thats how tired I am though. Thank god for a 3 day weekend.

I find putting QR on the left keeps them out of the Deraileur at the rear....... easier to work with. Also most bikes are like that.....so makes easier to work with other bikes cause it comes naturally to go for the left.
