Northeast - NJ transportation question...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Forgive me for invading your forum here...but I have a question. :) I'm crewing for a RAAM team and we are planning on flying back from Atlantic City to San Diego after the race. Fares out of AC are incredibly high and a less expensive alternative seems to be flying out of Newark. I'm having trouble finding information about ground transportation between AC and Newark. Can someone point me in the right direction?

I've checked NJtransit.com There seems to be no direct transportation from Atlantic City to Newark. However you may be able to hire a taxi from AC to one of the North Jersey Coast lines. From there a direct train to Newark is possible.
Thanks...I'm looking into Philadelphia as an alternate. Seems like there are more options for getting there!

yeah you can hit NJ transit from AC to one of the lines that offer the SEPTA. I believe that would take you to the Airport. Not too sure though.

You can ride the railroad from Atlantic City to Newark (Liberty) Airport.
Rail Map:

You will have to transfer from train to train, it will take four trains to get you there.
Atlantic City to Philadelphia: on New Jersey Transit
Philadelphia to Trenton: on SEPTA (SouthEast Pennsylvania Transportation Authority)
Trenton to Newark Liberty Airport Station: on New Jersey Transit
Newark Liberty Airport Station to Airport Terminals: on the Airtrain Monorail.
---------------------------------
Alternatively, you could ride Amtrak from Philadelphia to the Newark Liberty International Airport Station.
There is a short monorail ride from the Liberty International station to the airport terminals, IIRC the fare is $7.00 for the monorail.

Don't forget to hit the Poconos on your way to Atlantic City.
Too bad Mt. Airy Lodge (http://www.tienmao.com/archives/000442.html) is no more...
FYI, Philly is 1 hour closer. It's a straight shot northwest.

Thanks for all of the help. I think we'll go with Philly and beg the rest of the crew that is driving back here to California to drop us off at the airport. If not, we'll take the train! :)
