I'm planning to do the 32 mile route on my roadie...will take as many friends as possible, but I am likely the only one of us who will do more than the 12 miles. Tour d'Italia Link (http://www.lonestarcyclists.org/tour/tour.html)

did it last year on the 1936 russ tandem---did the 12 miles---so it's an easy ride with great country roads. The longer rides had more riders--you'll like it---sam

Doh. Ok, June 16th huh, still plenty of time to get a group organized for this one. Hopefully by then I'll be ready for the 60mi route. What condition / surface types are the roads on the route?

All the routes are on FM roads, with the attendant LOOONG straight uphills and gravelly shoulders. It's a fun workout, but in my one experience on my mountain bike WITH knobbies AND not enough air, it hurt. This time, if I'm not working, I'm taking my I'm-so-proud-of-it roadie.

Also...be EXTRA CAREFUL at rest stops, I saw a NASTY crash when a group was cruising at full speed through a rest stop and a guy was just trying to get across the highway.
