This is mainly for folks close to New Orleans.
I'm kinda by accident in the bike business. If anyone has any Diamondbacks-with True Temper Chrome Moly-or Tange Chrome Moly frames-DB that are complete bikes-with undented frames, and you can get them to New Orleans for $85,I want to buy it-them.
I can spiff them up, and for the next month I can sell them for about $110-115 on Craigs list.
I also like the Cr-Mo Hardrock and other Specialized bikes-usually not DB- but not as much -$70-I can get about $95 for them.
Shipping is about $40-45 from the west coast(by Fed Ex in a box made as small as possible, so the low price I can pay means it really isn't worth it for most folks who aRen't close to NO.
I don't care if they get scratched in shipping-dented bikes I can't sell- but scratches are no problem.
Flat tires-no problem.Crummy cables-no problem.
Normal road bikes draw little interest around here. Old MTBs-rigid or hardtail make great urban bikes!!!High quality, low price-can't beat that. I'm not as wild about aluminum frames-folks tend to lean their bikes on stuff here, and the aluminum dents .
Thanks,
Charlie

$30 profit margin? Is it really worth it? Unless your lying about how much you sell them for.

$30 margin is a slight overstatement .I currently have a Topanga Diamondback-True temper-mainly Shimano drive train on for $125. Lots of calls, but no takers yet.I expect it will go for $110-$115 and I 'll sell them a Doberman cable lock-6ft 12mm-for another $15(they are about $16 from online discounters, but Nashbar dropped then to $1.95 for 2 days last week.
Obviously,I don't do it for a living, strictly for amusement. I like to get to play with them a bit before selling them.
I'm selling a "bunch" of $30-$40 bikes also.I buy maybe 5 "bikes" for $50, then make about 3 bikes from the 5-sell for $30-$35. In the last bunch I discovered one has a tange Chrome Moly frame,so it will go for maybe $60-$75. Normally, I'm not that lucky; most of the bikes are Hi Tensile high carbon steel frames with cheapo derailleurs, no seats, frozen seatposts, missing brake pads/shoes useless cables. For some reason, the cheapo steel derailleur hangers are ALWAYS BENT!! I'm getting pretty good at straightening them-pita though. All 5 of the most recent bikes have bent rear derailleur hangers(the clamp type, not the fancy ones on aluminum frames)
Thanks,
Charlie
