im in need of a new set of freeride wheels and am wondering if i should build them with double butted spokes or straight. ive heard that the butting will let the spokes flex a little and last longer, but im not sure about that. ao im just wondering.
thanks

The butted spokes will allow more wheel give. So an impact that might cause a spoke pull thru with straight guage spokes. 32 spoke wheels sem to hold up better as well. A wheel supplier, can't remember which, that does a lot of pro down hill stuff, says that based on their failures, butted 32s hold up better.
