hi. i got this bottom bracket with a titanium spindle (square taper) and titanium hex fixing bolts. it has the standard 6903 sealed bearings and aluminum cartridge type cups and two lockrings. the spindle is symmetric. the brand/name on the spindle just says ubi.

does anyone here know this brand of bottom bracket? there's nothing really wrong with it. i can replace the sealed bearings when they get all messed up but i just like to know more of the brand.

How/where did you get it? I don't know anything about it, but square-taper titanium bottom brackets were something in fashion for super-light-nerds in the mid-90's but are significantly more flexible and have a notably higher chance of shearing or breaking than steel spindles. Good for lightweight, smooth-spinning riders who want the lightest componentry.

i got it from one of the local bike shops. yup i got it during the late 90s. i didn't notice any difference from my old bottom bracket (shimano 105 cup and cone type) but then again i'm on the light side at 130 lbs. i recently had the bb serviced -- repacking two sealed bearings -- and i took a pretty good look at the spindle and its still in great shape so i guess i got one of the good ones.

American Classic made a Ti BB like that, but it was drilled through with a ~1mm ID and for grease injection and had a slightly raised ridge in the center of the spindle with an exit hole for the grease there. It typically came with stainless Suntour/WTB crank bolts so you could inject without pulling the cranks.

Well, it sounds as if you're an ideal candidate. I weigh 180# and am not :)
