I plan to race at my local velodrome soon. I ride on the track regularly and am comfortable with being on the track with other people. I have no clue how any of the races work. The Friday night races consist of a scratch race, snow ball race and a points race. I would like to know how each of these races work before I show up to race. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
scratch race: first over the line after x laps wins
snow ball: whoever is across the line after the first lap gets one point the second two etc the person with the most points at the end wins
Points race: After certain laps points are awarded to those who placed on them. Rider with the most points wins
Don't worry they will explain everything as you line up before the races.

The LEADER of the first lap get's one point, the LEADER of the second lap get's two points and so on.
The points build with each lap, just as a snowball gets bigger as it rolls down a hill. Remember, only the leader gets points. (usually)
As dutret said, they will explain when you line up for the start.
Have fun, Jeff
