Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

So I'm no longer officially a clydesdale being that I know weigh in at 183 which is down from late last years 210 lbs. Earlier in the same year I was 230. The year before I was 265! =/
I've been training hard the last several months with the cheapo treadmill and the bowflex. And when the cheapo treadmill died I switched over to an indoor blackburn trainer which I hooked the bike up to.

Since then I've been going through spinerval dvds which have been hammering at my leg muscles for several weeks now.
However, these past 4 weeks or so there has been almost no training.
I just got tired.
I've lost a little bit of the steam and motivation I had over the winter and I need some encouragement to continue training for the upcoming summer.
I might have lost weight but what I desperately need to do right now is to focus on training the core muscles which are badly undeveloped. The abs and the back muscles I mean.

Just came back from paragon sports in manhattan and bought myself some running equipment since I really desire to start running. Did a test run the other day and found out that I really am still out of shape. But I find it a personal triumph that at least I am able to do some consistent (albeit slow) jogging at a decent pace for extended periods of time.
In any case its all cross training for when I finally am able to fly up those hills in prospect park on my roubaix and stay with the pace line. :)

So......any tips for the poser? :D

p.s. What do you guys think of amino fuel or that bio builde stuff? I'm putting myself on a 6 week program to finish out march, all of april, and the first week in may. This will consist of bowflex work, running, cycle training with spinerval dvds and/or actual outdoor riding. Then in the middle of may I will see where I am and how my summer will shape up performancewise.

Thanks for the feedback. :D

Hey congrats on the 80lbs. Everyone gets bored of the training. If the weather is nice, ride outside. If not, just stay active with things you like.

As for the abs and back, there are millions of websites online and google is your friend. I would use weights, imho. Get a ball, too...they are awesome.
Also, running is completely different than cycling. I can only run 3 miles and I'll be sore for a week, but I can ride 70+ miles at a time multiple days in a row. Running is weight bearing, so the legs get a different workout.

Ya I'll say! Running is a different animal all right. But I'm hoping of one day becoming an amateur age grouper for one of the less difficult triathlon races out there. Perhaps next year after I see what kind of shape I am at the end of this year.
And I just got a ball too. It has little rubber spikes in it that is suppose to help massage the back while I use it to do crunches. Plus my brother is going to take me to an abs class at "crunch" in manhattan. I dunno, I'm not the gym type. All my success has come from working out at home and outside. But I do need some help frankly to help with the core muscles.

Does any one know of a good treadmill repair services in new york? =/

Cool. When I couldn't ride outdoors this winter, I used the Bike-O-Vision dvd road-trip series for my indoor cycling when weather was impossible for riding. I like them a lot because there's no "coaching", no rear-ends of other cyclists in the way, and nothing but nice roads to look at. Worked great.

LOL! That contrasts greatly to the drill sargeant like coach in the spinerval dvds. I can still hear him shouting at me while I was screaming and spinning them pedals. :D

EDIT: Ok he wasn't shouting but with the pain I was feeling he might as well have been! :p

I like Bike-O-Vision's virtual cycling journeys to "Hawaii", "Northern California", "Washington Cascades", "California Coast" and "Santa Fe New Mexico" the most.
