Anybody know where it may be possible to purchase a 20" Montague Paratrooper type frame?
I called Montague and they don't sell just the frame.
Possibly someone knows where they are manufactured.
Thanks

I have seen a few on eBay. Possibly mine someday. Also try CL. I never understood why they do not just sell the frame. Used Monties often do not cost much more than the frames I have seen on eBay.

They are made in Tiawan and sent to Montague in Cambridge MA. I purchased a frame through ebay. I then built it up with much better parts than Montague used. I wanted a city bike that could fold into a case for trips. Used a nice Kinises (sp?) fork, a Sturmy Archer 8 speed internal hub, Mavic wheels with Shimano XTR front hub, Thompson stem and seat post, Trueviant (sp?) cranks and Easton carbon bars. I also uses SKS quick release clipless pedals. It was a fun build and now I have a bike I could spend all day on.

Do you use a derailer with the Sturmey Archer.
Do you use the case Montague sells?

I don't use a front derailer and of course the Sturmey Archer is an internal geared hub; so no rear derailer but I use a chain tensioner because the frame dropouts on the Montague are vertical. If you don't look close enough to see the big hub and the shift cable, you'd probably think it was a single speed setup.
I use a Dahon case for travel.

I've been keeping my eye on ebay but have only seen complete Montague bikes offered for sale.
Mr.Gear you did what I intended by piecing one together with personally preferred components.
I'd figure that a NEW bare frame could be offered (by Montague) for somewhere around $150 or so.
That would fair indeed.
(brain storm)Wonder if it is possible to search custom manifests via FOIFA to determine what Taiwanese company builds the frames for them .Then attempt to purchase one directly from them.Hmmmmm....

Gear;
What was the final weight of your Montague after your upgrades?

I found a Montague frame at a local bike store and built it up as a single speed with 24" wheels, front brake only... I don't think you could put 20" wheels on it.
