Usually San Diego weather is darn boring all the time. Today was different. Weather report gave two conflicting reports, one saying possibility of heavy mist, the other saying 70 degrees, sunny with winds. Apparently someone doesn't look out their door to see what the REAL weather is like. Went for my Thursday after work ride, some clouds--no big deal. Rode out about 8 miles and it starts to sprinkle. I look around and see some really DARK clouds, then I see the lightening (lightening in San Diego???) and I hear thunder -- oh oh, time to turn around. Just as I turn around it starts to REALLY rain. To say the least I got wet, but did have on a windbreaker which helped a lot. The hard rain didn't let up until I was about 3 miles from home, then it just rained normally. I had a great time wondering how many people in their cars thought I was crazy for being out there. I would ride in the rain more often but my husband doesn't want the bike to get wet, he is out in the garage right now cleaning the bikes. This ride was the most fun I have had in quite a while!!! :D
So DG -- did you ride this afternoon???

Global warming will soon cause your area to be destroyed by massive tornados. I seen it on TV. It was pretty cool.

Well, you should bike here in the Midwest. I say you have a 50/50 chance of rain or snow 50% of the year. Would that not be exciting?;)

There's a saying around here - "If you don't like the weather just wait a couple hours and it will change". That's certainly held true today as we've had periods of sunshine between torrential downpours with thunder and lightening.

As I sit here looking out at snow (rapidly melting into muddy snow) I pause to ponder the weather complaints of riders from far off fantasy lands like San Diego.
You are off riding and your husband is home cleaning bikes! Is nice. I like. But back home in the northeast this picture looks like me maintaining a stable of bikes for my family.
I have reread your post about annual Christmas rides on a decorated tandem. Exactly how many bottle bracket positions does your tandem have.
.......The crowd pauses....the worm lies in the water barely moving with the slow twitches of the tip of the rod......could that be the knock on the door from Publishers Clearing House.......????

Oh my husband had been out in the rain too, we just didn't except it. He just happen to make it home before me, so he met me at the garage door and took my poor rain soaked bike inside to tenderly take care of it and get it all clean and dry again -- what a GOOD husband!
As far as tornado's -- just another little challenge -- bring them on!
Our tandem has 4 water bottle holders, maybe next year we can rig up some lights on it too!

For having the nerve to talk about San Diego weather to northerners still looking at unused bikes and snow and for taking an annual Christmas ride on a decorated Tandem (pictures next year please)..........
ding....ding.....ding.....You have been awarded a win in this weeks twice postponed unannounced contest. In fact, a double win because its a tandem. If you wish (a pm with a place to send them is required) you will recieve 4.....2 pair in matching silver color TACX high grade lightweight water bottle brackets for the tandem..again pictures of unannounced contest prizes will encourage all others.
This will complete the unannounced contest for this week. Or perhaps not, I don't know.

I don't know is on third.
Glad you had an enjoyable ride and didn't get caught up in the lightning!! Your husband is smart....doing the cleaning soon after riding in the rain helps to keep the moisture gremlins from creating longer term issues and creating more challenging headaches for him on down the road. On the other hand maybe he was just trying to stay in good graces....whatever the motive it's all good.
