Hi:

I'm contemplating buying an early 90's Schwinn Duo Sport that seems to be in pretty good condition. Is this a good choice in terms of quality for a first tandem? Any ball-park price figures on such a bike with a stock setup?

Thanks for your help.

The Schwinn DuoSport sold for about $1400 when new at that time.
Did some test riding for Schwinn when the DuoSport was going to be introduced and we were quite impressed with the stiffness/quality of the test bike.
If I recall correctly it has a rather short wheelbase for a production tandem (about 64" compared to 69" for most other tandems) so it will be a a tight fit in the stoker compartment if stoker is more than 5'5" tall.
If it fits properly, it would make a good first tandem. If it's in good shape, $400 or a bit less, would not be out of line.
Hope this helps.
