New to cycling. In fact I haven't really started yet. I just bought a Centurion steel framed bike from the 1980s and a steel bianchi frame from Craigslist and am working with a friend to build a classic style road bike on the Bianchi frame. Total costs thus far—$40.

Any tips for getting started with road biking are welcome.

Oooohhh, what kind of Centurion? WE NEED PICTURES!!!

Oh. Sorry! Hi bike-adelic, in all seriousness, we would love to see pictures of your Centurion in the Classic & Vintage (http://www.bikeforums.net/forumdisplay.php?f=181) forum. Member pinnah is collecting statistics on bike geometry for Centurions, and I am certain he would love to have you contribute to the database if you don't mind.

Oh, and naturally we would like to see the Bianchi as well :D.

Welcome to BF!

Thanks for the info about the regional posts, flyingscotsman. I'll do it.

East Hill,

My friend took the Centurion home with him to begin removing the components and cleaning them up. But I'll ask him if he can snap a few photos. I can tell you that it is a red and white frame. It is a Le Mans with the gear levers on the down tube. It is a 53 or 54 cm frame. Araya 700c wheels. The components are mixed and probably not all original from the research I've done. cranks and derailers are sugino or segino or something like that. As you can tell, I don't have all the bike lingo down, but I'm working on it.

Ah, a LeMans....my mixte is a 1980 Centurion LeMans.

That's so you can find out what a mixte is! Yours sounds as if it might be mid-eighties from the paint scheme.

We'll see you in the C & V forum!
