Hello,

This ciocc on ebay, does anyone know much about it? I ask because it's identical to my girlfriend's frame and we don't have any info about it. If it's not Columbus tubing, then what might it be?

Thanks!

I had once heard that Ciocc frames were imported by Ten Speed Drive Imports but am not sure if that is true. If it was then it would have a decal on the underside of the downtube towards the bottom bracket with a serial number. I'm also curious if the decals are under the clear coat or if they were applied after the frame was painted.

This has been bugging me for years as I have this exact same frame as well and others like it have come up on eBay in the past. I've always asked the sellers if they knew the type of tubing but nary a one did. I don't know if it is a lower-end model but the geometry is fairly tight and there are no fender braze-ons, so maybe it was a mid-range frame. Only one chain-stay being chromed might indicate too that it was not one of the higher end ones.

Ten Speed Drive was indeed one of the importers of Ciocc, but not the only one. What makes you think it's NOT Columbus tubing? Lack of a decal? It may not be the Highest Model, but it sure doesn't look like cr*p to me...might be "tre tubi" or something like that with just the 3 main tubes of SL or it might be Aelle. I never met a Ciocc I didn't like, at least a little. Judging by the paint and shorty lugs, this is an early-mid '80s frame, and chrome was falling out of fashion, then: it doesn't necessarily mean a lower grade frame. I have an '85 that has virtually zero chrome on it, and even shorter-point lugs.
