I have a '07 Schwinn Madison that I ride daily as part of my fitness and training routine. I never raced or ridden on a track but will have my opportunity in May. Knowing this, I will replace my bullhorns with a track handlebar.

There are many options out there, but I am looking for an affordable start. Can anyone recommend bars that will fit with my 26.0mm stem? I'm not against using a shim. Also, should I look for a width the same as my road bars? How can I determine a decent fit?

Thanks.

Care to field just one then?

ITM Super Italia Pro bars are the best affordable bars I've ever used. They are 25.8mm, but work perfectly well with a 26.0 stem

Your track bars should be narrower than road bars - 42cm is a good width, but many riders opt for an even narrower bar.

Best way to determine fit is buy the bars, set em and see if it works for you - if it doesn't it's the stem that most probably needs to change anyway.

Thanks for the advice! I ride 44cm on a road bike, so I'll try going to a 42cm for a start.
