Aero bars

is there anyone here with advice on making a custom one-peice set of carbon aero bars? I know that a fitting will be nessecary, Should i just borrow some more adjustable aerobars and set them up to fit me the way i want (im making the bars for myself) and then carve up a piece of foam to the right shape and start laying on the carbon? Any advice on the layup? Where can i buy the apropriate carbonfiber?

I'm told that there are issues involved in working with carbon fiber.
Might want to do a search on that one.

I know one of the guys that used to work at Fabcraft and they make carbon fiber trailing arms for the snowmobiles. He now owns AFX sled works in Spokane Valley and is one of my better customers.
Any way, he was telling me about this. No one is even alloud in the room when the are cutting the stuff as the dust is really bad on us humans. I think it's like the asbestos in the lungs thing the way he was explaining it to me.

i have a feeling that thats when you are using large roatary saws to cut the carbon, so its throwing a munch of carbon dust into the air, plenty of people use carbon at home.

That's probably it. I have used carbon for a variety of marine applications, and it's very nice stuff to work with. Grinding pretty much any of the fiber re-inforcements is to be avoided, though tools that extract at source aren't bad these days.

You got me to thinking about this and so I called Justin at AFX and you are right.
It is the type of saws they are using and the dust they create.
So I learned something new. Good deal.
