Touring - Bicycle rental Perguia Italy

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I'm going to be in Perugia for a few days in late May and have been thinking about renting a bicycle . I have scoured the Internet and can find some bike shops in Perugia, but none of them seem to offer rentals. I'm just looking for a beater to head over to Assisi a day or other day trips ...

I'm not sure if they can help, but you might want to try this website (http://slowtalk.com/groupee/forums/a/frm/f/862600685). There are a number of local folks and everyone is very friendly. One option is to stay at a B&B. They might have one for rent or will be able to hook you up with a friend that has one. It might not be exactly to your liking but it will get you around.
Also try www.bikeadentures.com. They are from the north, I am not sure how far they reach but they may be able to provide you with a place to rent.

Thanks. Slow travel is an interesting read. I think I'll post a message there.
I did find a number of bicycle shops, but they seem to be more like Sports stores. However, I might give them a call.
I think this is the correct Bike adventures url http://www.bikeadventures.it/

In Perugia, Punto Bici used to supply bikes to the touring company Ciclismo Classico (before the latter acquired its own fleet of bikes). Punto Bici might still have rentals. I don't have a website for them, but there is a street address and phone number:
Punto Bici Perugia
Via delle Caravelle, 1/b
tel: 075/5002685
Try asking at either your hotel or someone riding a bike in town.

This is great.
I never found them in the Italian Yellow pages, but when I googled "Punto Bici Perugia" I got this
http://www.comune.perugia.it/canale.asp?id=530
Some of the services are just outside, but several are in town.
I used to live in Perugia 30 years ago and couldn't believe there was only one or two bike shops. I guess these are just not registered with Yellow Pages.
dorkypants, sounds like you know Perugia pretty well?

Actually no, I've been to Perugia exactly once. Nice town, but too many English-speaking foreigners are there to study Italian...to the extent that wait-staff, hotel clerks, shop keepers, etc., are inclined to speak first in English to anyone who doesn't look like a local (and I clearly don't).
I took several tours by Ciclismo Classico back in the 90's. They used Punto Bici rental bikes back then (as well as Punto Bici sag vans).
