OK, after looking over the Southeast racing calendar, I've decided to make this my first race of 2007(actually my first race in several years!!!)....
2007 Dragon's Challenge Omnium on May 26th, 27th, and 28th. (RR, TT, and crit)

Looks like the criterium will be the state championships.
I began training on March 4th. That will give me what?...11-12 weeks of hard training in my legs by then. I started from ground zero, with no base fitness to begin with. I now have about three good weeks under my belt as I type this. You guys think I can be ready by then? It's interesting that when you identify a target, the competitive juices really start flowing. I already did my 30 mile loop today(2 hours) and I want to get back out there again. Can't wait 'til tomorrow. I will ride longer and harder now that I have a target and a goal.
I'd love to go there with the hope of winning, but I know from past experience that I don't start going really well until about 12 weeks of hard training. So this is going to really cut it close.
