Is anyone planning on doing a mulholland challenge preview ride??
Or does someone want to put one together?
It wouldn't have to be the whole ride...what do you think?

No plans yet, but that does not mean one can not be planned... Relize that Muholand is only 3 weeks away, and the only possable date would be in two weeks - I am not sure if anyone would be interested...

Here are a few options for routes if anyone's interested. The last one is close to the official ride, but has a little more climbing. The other one's are variations of the eastern half (stunt, piuma, topanga etc)

It wouldn't have to be the whole ride...what do you think? How about this Saturday. We could start at the Commons in Calabassas then take Mulholland to Little Sycamore, Yerba down to Cotharin, to Deer Creek, to Pch and Neptunes Nest .After the break PCH to Encinal back to Mulholland to the store on Sierra Creek then Mulholland to Stunt, up Stunt and back down to Mulholland and back to the Commons. I did it a few weeks ago. Thats most of the M.C. route. Its 83 miles with 10,000+ ft.

Could ride out to Three Points and back . I wonder who will be out there with Solvang Double the same day. Clem Bartoli will be doing his 50th double up there. Wow.

Go Clem! Yes Bob, up Bouquet, Spunky to San Fran to Lake Elizabeth road to Lake Hughes road. No need to add to it for me. I'll ask the girls if they want to do that or the Commons thing.
This being Karen's thread, maybe we should see what she has to say.

We should set something up for heartbreak There has been some talk of that, doing the 4 counties part of it anyway as a preview for Sea to Summit as well. BUT, its mighty cold out there this time of year.

Karen :) I could do the Wheelman ride just as well Saturday and do Mul on the 7th. Whatever the group wants to do. I would want to go at least out to 3 points to turn around. Depends on how the wind is blowing. Never know out there.

O.K., I guess you can come, too. You can finish early if you want by cutting the ride short, there will be options for that. I'll e-mail some of the other regulars soon.

KWe can get water from a faucet on Decker/Encinal by Little Sycamore. We can stop for food and water at Neptune's Net on PCH and hit the same faucet on the way back up, then go to Sierra Creek store near the Rock Store. You might want to bring a third bottle for that middle section as the water from that faucet doesn't taste so good. Of course this depends on how warm it is and how much water you need. Have you climbed Encinal?

Sorry, I couldn't ride with you guys today. When I said I might ride, I wasn't sure if the group I was going with was riding the Santa Monica's or not. They wanted to start from Kaanan & the 101 by Sundance. From Cornell & Mulholland basically the same route you all were doing.
It was nice to get a chance to see everyone, I'm sure we will hook up on one of these rides. The weather sure was great today. I hope it is like this in a couple of weeks for the Mulholland Challenge.

I had a harder time on Stunt today than I did in the MC last year. Must be because I'm a year older now.
We had a great group of 10 riders and everyone seemed to have fun. It was around 85 miles with 9 or 10k feet of gain, depending on which altimeter you believe.
Karen, who is preparing for the MC, did great in one of her first big climbing rides. She never stops smiling, and had no problem with this ride. I think she'll be fine on the MC.
