Hi all, I removed the 8-speed shimano chain from my roadie yesterday with then intention of giving it a thorough clean ahead of a ride today. I soaked it in white spirit for about 2 hours, then rinsed it out and dried. Now, when I was looking over the chain before re-lubing I noticed several stiff links. I tried nudging the pins a bit as suggested, but in one case the overlapping plates seemed to be much closer together than the rest. Could this link have been damaged/bent beyond repair? (It was the first time I've used a chain tool)
I haven't relubed the chain yet (I need to buy some tomorrow), but I'm not too hopeful that it'll solve the problem of the plates having such little clearance.

Stiff links can be relieved by flexing the bad link perpendicular to the pivot. Make sure the pin is centered in the chain.

A chain that's just been degreased will not infrequently be stiff. Often the stiffness goes away once some lube is worked in. Lube the chain and work any stiff links back and forth with your fingers, and hopefully all of them will loosen up.
