Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. I got one of those trico cases for it. It was a tough fit getting it in there. Im nervous about it getting there in one piece. I cant imagine the TSA opening it up and being able to close it back up properly.
Thankfully I am getting out there early enough to get anything fixed before any races.
Now I just need to make sure I dont forget anything.
Which airline, which airports?
Please update us afterwards. Also good to know which it the currently preferred method - airplane or UPS.

I always go plane because I can't stand to not have my bike with me at all times. Besides, international shipping gets expensive.

What about packing the bike really well and then sending it ahead to a local bicycle shop at your destination via Yellow Freight / UPS / FedEx Ground?

i thought about doing that but I raced last sunday and I rode all week including today. I really wouldnt have been able to do all that if I mailed it. I may mail it back though.
riskus--
Have a great trip. We used a Trico Iron case going to France, and it worked great. The TSA folks didn't seem to destroy anything too badly, but I'm not sure if they opened it. We flew out of Dulles and they told us that we couldn't be around for the cases being inspected for security reasons.

Someone needs a second bike!!
Oh yeah and I'm so jealous that you're flying out for what sounds like an awesome RR that I hate you and hope you get a flat in the first mile.

a flat in the first mile wont be so bad with that huge climb not too far ahead.
I do have a second bike but I didnt want to end up having to race with it last sunday if I mailed my nicer bike out.
I actually already have a decent frame in phoenix already. I didnt think about ordering parts for it to build it out until a few days ago.

looks like everything made it here in good shape. I havent put it back together yet but it doesnt look like the TSA did anything.
My flight was on Delta from washington national to phoenix az with a transfer in atlanta.
Delta didnt charge me anything for bringing the bike. The count bikes as regular luggage.
