Foo - Californians

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Article today said most dislike Californians, that they move into your State, buy a huge house that raises prices and then they try to change everything.
For real? More people left this year than moved in for the first year in a long time.

I figure that the PRK is a lost cause. I don't care who moves in or out, by and large the people who live there are apathetic losers.

I was raised in Ca. (Humboldt county) and couldn't wait to move out. Joined the Navy and 20 years later I retired to Idaho (Boise). I had to leave and my justification was I needed to move back to the country, there was just to much city in Boise. :)
I HATE Ca's political scene but I sure love the country. How many of you look out your backdoor and see 200" redwoods 30 Yards away?

When was the last time you were in the UP and the Keweenaw Peninsula? I prefer beautiful Lake Superior over the Pacific Ocean. And I just love the Michigan climate and weather. California weather blows.

2 and a half years ago. In addition to the beautiful mountains, what I like about the bay is that it doesn't snow, and the temperature is fairly consistent year round.

You guys really are sick in the head. I live in Cali, it has great mountain biking, and you just gotta ignore the "it's all about me idiots" which is about half of the population. Once you get used to the people, it's a great place. Good waves, too.

Thats pretty true in Washington and Oregon.
Absolutely true. In general they're fine as persons, but as a group they shake things downhill. California culture, politics, and housing prices are best kept to California. I'm even willing to risk never seeing an In-n-Out in Oregon as the cost (actually, I have no attachment to In-n-Out, but all the Cali immigrants can't seem to be able to figure out how we get by without them).

The beauty of pollution in all its splendor! :D
Yeah, seriously, screw this place! I woke up this morning and it was a balmy 65 degrees! I thought this was supposed to be MARCH!? I tried to make the best of it so I went on a ride today, but wasn't able to bring any of my awesome winter gear.
I went up to Marin, the cradle of mountain biking, and up to Tamarancho because I was sick of getting the salty sea breezes in my face. Some of those Californian buttholes along the way had the audacity to warmly greet me "Hello!"
I can't STAND that!
When I got up there I was distraught because of this sign:
http://bikemapdude.com/BMD_graphics/tamarancho4.jpg
*sigh* Singletrack it is, then.
At least Tamarancho doesn't have those damn annoying gorgeous redwoods all over the place. Those things get pretty huge.
Here's the state flower, the golden poppy. They were ALL OVER the place.

If I want to play in the snow all I have to do is drive for 30 minutes. Poof. Snow. What I do not have to do is scrape it off of my car and or driveway every day.

Love Michigan. Love California. Again, those often comment just because - well, most likely jealous. Sierra Nevada, Coastal Range , Big Sur. Awesome. California is one of my favorite states. When we Come back to the states, it will likely be Calif.
What's cool about the SF Bay Area is that the temps are moderate all year round. But if you want snow it's just a 3 hour drive to Tahoe for some snow boarding and an hour more to gamble your life away in Reno and the NV side of Tahoe.

Slept through a rainy night and woke up to a bit of snow that tore the awning off my dog kennel. Redwood trees covered in snow make a great morning gift.
And by the way, anything south of Fort Bragg is Southern Ca. and should be a seperate state.

You're very confused.
http://www.paradigmhosting.net/images/d2.1.jpg
More confusion. The temperature can be fairly consistent (cities near the ocean) or vary a great deal (cities that are inland and separated from the some of the Pacific's influence by topography).
You are confused too, at least as far as your understanding of what I know. Granted it gets a little cold in the bay, and granted snow will stick where there is elevation. When I was in Kali recently it was about 55 degrees out in the Marin headlands and I found snow at about 4-5,000 feet elevation.
http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m267/Michiganderbiker/kali2007/SnowinMarin.jpg
I was indeed refering to the SF bay area only. In a Michigan boy's terms, a 40 degree night followed by a 65 degree day is not "cold". Indeed if you venture beyond the protection of the warm ocean air it gets ball bustingly cold in the winter. So you see, there is no confusion on my end. I'm only putting things in perspective for a comparison of the SF bay to Michigan.
