okay, so after carrying our bike sans wheels to another city, i've decided i want to make one of those...uhm. things. my wife calls them "chain snugglies." i don't think that's the official name for them.
anyways. you put them in your rear axle with the chain to keep it all nice and tight. and clean.
what are they called, and where can i see pictures? (i don't have an old hub lying around, so i figured i'd try to make one from other parts.)
thanks.

I pictured it in pink. With fur of some type.
More like this:

the nashbar and pedros ones can only go to 130 spaced and not down to 120

The pedros one only attaches on one side, so can fit any frame. Look at the picture above.

I have that.
How well does it work? Do you think it could be easily modified for 120 mm spacing?

it comes as a 120, and spacers to make it 130/135. I like it.

It'd be nice to have one with a fake axle or whatever though to prevent accidental frame bending incidents.

What about a threaded bar, 5 - 10mm of spacing, a large washer (bigger than the pvc pipe) then a peice of pvc pipe say 10mm wide as close to the size of your cog as possible then another large washer lager larger than the pipe then what ever else t otake up the space between the washer and other dropout. Place the chain inbetween the two washers on the pipe, pull back in dropouts / track ends and secure chain.

That's what the Nashbar one is. Look up.

Yeah, no ***** :) I was just saying that it seems better to have one like that than the ones w/out the axles.
