My first road race. 30 miles for me.

Food and water intake plan got derailed as we waited for over an hour in a herd in the parking lot to caravan to the start.

I hate hills. I hate false-flat, set your quads on fire, hills even more. I got stung by a bee twice in lap 2. Didn't notice the residual stinging by the end, because of how much everything hurt by then.

My teammate and I worked together well. We picked up a few more people to add to our line after the main pack of Cat 4s got well away from us. We picked off several people who blew up early.

Then my teammate got sucked in to making a move with another woman we were riding with at the end, with a couple km left to go. Left me hanging in the headwind as my legs said "no." But my pathetic seated sprint got me back ahead of them in the last 200m. Sprinting uphill blows.

7th in the collegiate category. Meh. Much better number than when you add in the rest of the cat 4 field.
